Still have some Thanksgiving leftovers to use up? Here’s a recipe for your dog from Rachael Ray! Remember, that not all dogs should have table food and so it’s advisable to make sure that you check with your vet before serving any to your pup. Also, some dogs are very sensitive to any changes in their diet and new foods can cause dietary distress (to put it politely). That being said, I can assure you that this is what my dog will be having for her Christmas dinner (too late for Thanksgiving leftovers here!).
1 cup shredded roast turkey meat combined with 1/4 cup breadcrumbs. It’s best to mix this together gently using your hands and mix in 1 large beaten egg and 1/2 a cooked sweet potato. (This is kind of like mixing together a ground beef mixture for making hamburgers!). Form this mixture into 2 patties about 1/2 inch thick. Cook these in a skillet with some vegetable oil over medium heat until golden brown on both sides. (This takes about 5 minutes). Drain these on paper towels to absorb as much of the grease as possible. Allow them to cool enough for your dog to eat, top each with a tablespoon of cranberry sauce and serve to your pup! (As with most of Rachael’s pet friendly recipes, this could also be suitable and delicious for human consumption as well!)
